パカパカ Paka Paka
One day, looking at a Ukiyo-e book, I rediscovered that its drawing style was based on the combination of flat colors and unshaded lines. That style was completely different from the western one, but at the same time it showed a very light and sophisticated expression.
So the idea of creating an animated video, from the union of my illustrations together with those of Ukiyo-e from the Edo period, was the perfect combination to show them with current Japanese rap rock music.
The inspiration for my illustrations comes from the atmosphere of the Japanese films of the 1950s. The scenes of these are in black and white to contrast with those of color of Ukiyo-e. I wanted to make the characters in Ukiyo-e come alive with the music of today.
Mirando un día un libro de Ukiyo-e, redescubrí que su estilo de dibujo se basaba en la combinación de colores planos y línea sin sombrear. Ese estilo era completamente diferente al occidental, pero al mismo tiempo se mostraba una expresión muy ligera y sofisticada.
Así pues, la idea de crear un video animado, a partir de la unión de mis ilustraciones junto con las de Ukiyo-e del periodo Edo, fue la combinación perfecta para mostrarlas con música japonesa de rap rock actual.
La inspiración de mis ilustraciones proceden de la atmósfera de las películas japonesas de la década de los años 50. Las escenas de estas están en blanco y negro para contrastar con las de color de Ukiyo-e llevando a la vida a sus personajes envueltos en música moderna.
ある日、浮世絵の本を見ていて、陰影のない平らな色と線だけで描かれた絵のスタイルは、西洋画のそれとは全く異なり、しかし同時に非常に軽やかで洗練された表現であることを再発見した。
江戸時代の作品である浮世絵に自作の絵を加え、和のテイストを持った日本のラップロック音楽と組み合わせたアニメーションビデオを作ることを思いついた。
自作の絵によるシーンは、1950年代の日本映画の雰囲気にインスパイアされており、色付きの浮世絵とのコントラストを出すために白黒にしている。 浮世絵の登場人物を現代の音楽に乗せて生き生きと復活させたかった。

Come Together
In my interpretation of The Beatles, they are not portrayed as a legendary rock band, but as four informal young men. Also each member of the band has a different appearance, George Harrison as an Indian, Paul McCartney as an Englishman (as he is), John Lennon as a Japanese and Ringo Starr as an Arab. Each member’s scenes are divided into different colors: blue (George), red (Paul), purple (John), and yellow (Ringo).
The animation is made with the intention of expressing the feeling that it is drawn by hand.
En mi interpretación de The Beatles, no se muestran como una legendaria banda de rock, sino como cuatro jóvenes humildes. También cada miembro de la banda tiene una apariencia distinta, George Harrison como un indio, Paul McCartney como un inglés (tal cual es él), John Lennon como un japonés y Ringo Starr como un árabe. Las escenas de cada miembro se dividen en colores: azul (George), rojo (Paul), lila (John) y amarillo (Ringo).
La animación está realizada con la intención de expresar la sensación de que está dibujado a mano.
伝説のロックバンドとしてではなく、形式に捉われない4人の若者としてのビートルズを描こうと思った。 バンドのメンバーはそれぞれ特徴的な外見を持っている。ジョージ・ハリソンはインド人、ポール・マッカートニーはイギリス人（そのまま）、ジョン・レノンとリンゴ・スターは日本人、アラブ人と設定した。各メンバーの登場シーンごとに色を変えて構成している。
手描きの味がそのまま伝わるようなアニメーションを目指した。

モンスタァ Monster
In this video I gathered selected images of various themes to fit each phrase of the song. Then I combined them with my illustrations of the guardians of Japanese temples, synchronizing everything with the sound.
En este video reuní imágenes seleccionadas de diversas temáticas para que encajaran con cada frase de la canción y, las combiné con mis ilustraciones basadas en los guardianes de los templos japoneses sincronizándolo todo con el sonido.
曲のそれぞれのフレーズに合う画像を集め、自作の金剛力士のイラストと組み合わせて音とシンクロさせた。
To my surprise, a member of the songs’s author, Yamaarashi, found the video on YouTube and introduced it on his blog. I prepared a video CD with three different T-shirts to give them as gifts.
¡Por sorpresa! Uno de los miembros del grupo Yamaarashi, también coautor de la canción, encontró el video en YouTube y lo mostró en su blog. Más tarde, decidí agradecérselo preparando un CD con el video junto con tres camisetas diferentes para regalarles.
驚いたことに、曲の作者である山嵐のメンバーがYouTubeで映像を見つけ、ブログで紹介してくれた。彼らにプレゼントするために、３種類のデザインTシャツと共にビデオCDを用意した。
Pepsi Twist competition (Italy)
The illustration of the guardians of Japanese temples was originally made for the Pepsi Twist contest. Of the two proposals, the one I used the figure of the recycle mark on the package as part of the design, expressing the production process of the factory, was one of the finalists.
Originalmente, la ilustración de los guardianes de los templos japoneses se realizó para el concurso de Pepsi Twist. Entre las dos propuestas que presenté, en el cual en una de ellas se utilizaba la figura de la persona que recicla en los envoltorios como el personaje principal para mostrar el proceso de fabricación de Pepsi, quedó finalista.
金剛力士のイラストは元々、ペプシツイストの缶デザインのコンペのために作成したものだ。2つの案のうち、パッケージにあるリサイクルマークの人の形をデザインの一部として利用し、工場の生産工程に見立てた案は、商品化の最終候補に残った。

Wings
By participating in a video clip contest for a Ringo Starr song, I created a world where a panda is the hero. In this hand-drawn animation, our hero overcomes various obstacles to become a grown man. In the interlude, the sound of the guitar and the rhythm of the drum are expressed by a combination of abstract lines and a walking panda.
A partir de la participación en un concurso de videoclips para una canción de Ringo Starr, creé un mundo donde un panda es el héroe. En esta animación dibujada a mano, nuestro héroe supera diversos obstáculos hasta convertirse en un hombre adulto. Durante la parte instrumental, combinada por el sonido de la guitarra y el ritmo de la batería, se ha creado un ambiente basado en una combinación de líneas abstractas junto con el panda ambulando.
リンゴ・スターのミュージックビデオのコンペ。パンダのキャラクターを主役にした手描きのアニメーションで歌の世界を表現した。彼は様々な障壁を乗り越えた末に大人になっていく。間奏部は、ギターの音とドラムのリズムが、抽象的な線と歩くパンダの組み合わせで表現されている。

Sesame Street x Rock and Roll
The movements of the muppets in the Sesame Street are intense and have something in common with rock music. For that reason, I came to the idea to move the existing scenes together with a rock song. So I combined them with a fast-paced song with loud screeches.
Los movimientos de los muñecos en el programa infantil Barrio Sésamo son intensos y tienen algo en común con la música rock. Por esa razón, la decisión de trasladar las grabaciones existentes junto con una canción de rock fue una idea muy interesante y, por ello, reuní algunas escenas y las combiné con una canción de ritmos rápidos con chillidos intensos.
セサミストリートのマペットの動きは激しく、ロック音楽の勢いに通じるものがある。番組の既存の映像をロックの曲と一緒に動かしたらおもしろそうだと思った。そこでいくつかのシーンを集め、叫び声の多いアップテンポな曲と組み合わせた。
